The special delegation of the International Monetary Fund, which was on an official visit to Colombo from June 24 to 30, met with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (June 30) morning and engaged in discussions.

The President’s Media Division, in a statement, stated that the government’s commitment to maintaining macroeconomic stability and reforms under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program, despite numerous external shocks, has been commended by the Special Representative of the International Monetary Fund.

The statement also states that the delegation, led by Sonali Jain-Chandra, Deputy Director of the IMF’s Asia and Pacific Department, highly appreciated Sri Lanka’s economic recovery progress and the country’s resilience.

The Presidential Media Division states that the representatives pointed out that Sri Lanka has made greater progress than many other countries implementing programs supported by the International Monetary Fund.

The statement said that the delegation commended the government for maintaining macroeconomic stability and its strong commitment to the reform agenda, despite a series of external shocks, and assured its continued support for the government’s further steps to restore the economy.
